Helen was born on Sept. 13, 1920, in Reader, W. Va., to James Dewey Edgell and Hazel Virginia Chaplin.
She married Melvin A. Brown on Dec. 18, 1937, in Laurel Point, W. Va.
Helen worked at Packard Electric Co. for over 30 years and enjoyed being with her family and taking bus trips with her friends also.
Helen was a member of St. Peter and Paul's Church of Warren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband.
Surviving are her sons, Robert K. Brown and daughter-in-law, Mattie of Salem and Charles J. Brown of Texas; brothers, Bill Edgell of Wellsville, Dewey D. Edgell of New Cumberland, W. Va., Joe Edgell of Warren and Phillip S. Edgell of Parkersburg, W. Va.; sisters, Anne J. Tennant of Reader, W. Va., and Catherine Faye Bondor of Youngstown; grandsons, Charles, Daniel, Robert (Tracey) Brown of Braceville, Ronald (Valerie) Brown of Salem; granddaughters, Pamela (Mark) Vingle and Loretta (Bryan) Ripple, both of Salem; 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Melvin R. Brown and daughter-in-law, Lida E. Brown; great-great grandson, Logan C. Brown; brothers, James E. Edgell, Robert S. Edgell, Dudley D. Edgell and Larry L. Edgell; and sisters, Wanda L. Briggs, Pearl M. Briggs and Joan B. McAllister.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 7, at St. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren, preceded by a 9:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Pine Knoll Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Sinchak & Sons Funeral Home, 727 E. Market St., Warren.
