William Hengst, 70, retired farmer, died at 6:30 Tuesday morning, June 15, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clifford Smith, of Lafayette route 2, after an illness of two years. Born in Clinton county, he married Mary Ganger of Lafayette in 1902. She preceded him in death. He was a member of the Dayton Methodist church.

Surviving are four sons: Raymand and William of Lafayette, Harold of Dayton, and Ralph of Indianapolis; four daughters: Mrs. Hurley Hagerty of Frankfort, Mrs. Ralph White of Indianapolis, Mrs. Clifford Smith, at whose home he died, and Mrs. Charles Chamberlin of Lafayette route 5, three brothers: Harry, Ross and John, all of Mulberry, and two sisters: Mrs. Verna Mills of Mulberry route 1, and Mrs. James Vinard of Pettit.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church, Dayton, with the Rev. W. C. Evers officiating. Interment was in the Dayton cemetery. The Baker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
