Bobby Raymond Wheat passed from this life into the arms of his Lord and Savior on January 1, 2008, surrounded by his family. Raymond endured a brief but courageous struggle with lung cancer. He was born in Coal County, Oklahoma on March 23, 1932 to JB and Cleo Wheat, the third of five children and the only boy. At age 10, his family moved to Oklahoma City. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his Army tour, he met and married the love of his life, Dortha. He worked as a cross country truck driver for Fox Smythe for many years. Raymond and Dortha are members of Southern Hills Baptist Church. Raymond loved Jesus Christ, his church and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Dortha of the home; one son, Victor Curlanis, one daughter, Mary Lou Nimmo, both of Oklahoma City; one grandson, Johnny Nimmo of Purcell, OK; one great-granddaughter, Bailey Nimmo of Florida (the apple of his eye); two sisters, June Badgett of Del City and Ruth Jane Albertson of Poughkeepsie, AR. Formal visitation will be held 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 4, 2008, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Sat., January 5, 2008, at Southern Hills Baptist Church with interment following in Resthaven Gardens under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
