He was born Sept. 11, 1925, in Shawnee to John E. Duffield and Eva (Rouse) Duffield. He attended school in Vian, Okla..

On Feb. 2, 1948, he married Loretta Ramsay.

He joined the military after high school were he served in Italy during World War II. He made a career out of the military which took him to tours in Greece, Korea and Germany. He finished his career in 1965 at Fort Sam Houston. After the military he served as a civil servant at Tinker Air Force Base. He was a member of NE Free Will Baptist Church in Shawnee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Loretta Duffield; son, William Duffield Jr. and wife, Susan; daughters, Connie Barnett and husband, Bill, and Donna Vawter and husband, Don; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Duffield and Jack Duffield; and sister, Ester Chaffin.
