Dora Nan Slater Atkins, 83, of Fort Payne, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a founding member of Hannah White Arnette Chapter of DAR.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Schofield officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. hour of service.

She is survived by her husband W.F. "Leonard" Atkins; daughters Rhonda A. Hood, Donna A. Chesser (Larry), Sherry Atkins (Paul Wallace); grandsons Colin Scott Dawson, Jonathan Tyler Hood, Jacob Daniel Hood, and Kevin Dale Dawson (Susan); great-grandson Tucker Elliott Dawson; brother John B. "Butch" Slater (Dale); sister Clara S. Schofield; sisters-in-law Doris Slater, Elaine Slater, and Mary Slater; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Hugh E. and Maggie LaVina Slater, brothers Bill, Bryce, Fred, Dan, and Doug Slater, sister Betty Hill, and brothers-in-law Dr. Curtis Schofield and Lloyd Hill.
