"Vera was an excellent cook, could cook with the best of them. She
cooked for and organized the Senior Banquets in Klickitat for years. She could sew and made shirts for the boys. Had a good pattern she used to make corduroy shirts out of. The shirts had two buttons near the neck to get in and out. She'd spread the patterns and material all over the front room floor and be up most of the night sewing when she needed to get something done. She did the painting, carpenter work and electrican work in the house. One time she fell out of the attic and landed on the floor in a heap. Another time she was cutting the wood for the hardwood floor on a table saw and cut off her 1st finger and badly cut her thumb. She wouldn't let Harry use the saw because he was the one who made the living. And she didn't want to take a chance of injuring him. She was on the school board and a member of the PTA."
