Grand kids remember her making "Bird's Nests". She would pat out pie crust into a circle, put apples, sugar, cinnamon, etc. in center then fold up the sides to make a dish. Then she would put the crust on the top in a lattice pattern. Would then put the nests in a pie pan and bake. Made them every time she came up to see family. Also wore a pretty hat with four roses across the front, think the roses were pink. During the war a lot of the food was rationed. Nora got in a line thinking she was getting some type of food after while she realized it was for whiskey. The boys really teased her about that.
