Nancy was born between 1788 & 1795, probably closer to the latter. She died after Mar 1876 when she sent a final letter to the Department of the Interior in an attempt to receive a pension for her husband's service in the War of 1812. Despite numerous affidavits her application was rejected.

Nancy & Charles spent their final days on their home place very near Cane Creek Baptist Church. It is believed they're buried in one of the many graves marked with field stones in this cemetery, along with other family members.

Nancy was the daughter of William & Catherine Pate. Her parents removed from Chesterfield Co SC and were in Henry Co GA by 1823. Her father was one of the justices who bought the land and laid out the town that would become McDonough. He was present on 2 Jun 1823 when they drove up the stake for the court on lot # 123 and said it should be called Henryville. He was present at a meeting in April 1824 when they ordered up the description of the courthouse and it's furnishings. [Ref: Henry Co GA, Mother of Counties.] Her father died in Henry Co GA about May 1844.

Nancy married Charles Hulsey on 28 Feb 1813 in Jasper Co GA. Her oldest sister, Rebecca Pate, had married Jennings Hulsey on 13 Mar 1806. Jennings is believed to be an older half-brother to Charles.

Other siblings of Nancy were Elizabeth Pate Shaw, John Pate, William Pate Jr, Aaron Pate, Thomas Pate and Katherine Pate Hinton.

The children of Nancy & Charles were Kenion Tarpley, Hilborn, Needham Bart, Gilford, William Pate, Milbury, Samantha, Catherine, Drucilla and Charles Thomas Hulsey.
