Elizabeth Hayes Locke, 58, of Framingham, passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2009, surrounded by family at her home in Framingham. Born in Walton, N.Y., she was the daughter of Angeline (Moretti) Hayes and the late Walter Hayes, and the wife of Robert R. Locke Jr. for 35 years. A graduate of Framingham South High School and Framingham State College, Liz went on to receive her masters degree from Suffolk University. She was a teacher of home economics for more than 30 years at Dedham High School. Liz was a member of the Framingham Country Club and enjoyed spending her summers at Old Orchard Beach, Maine. She enjoyed traveling and will be remembered as a fun loving people person who loved to talk. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her brothers, Jim and Debbie Hayes of Milford, and Peter and Cathy Hayes of Whitinsville; her sisters, Kathie Hayes of Framingham, Mary Anne and Bob Mellone of Ashland, Noreen and Brad Bigelow of Framingham, and Tricia Hayes of Framingham; her mother-in-law, Jean Henderson of Sarasota, Fla.; brothers-in-law; Ken Locke of Hopkinton, and Gary Locke of Bowie, Md.; two sisters-in-law, Sandra Clark and Nancy Aderholt, both of St. Cloud, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 10 a.m., at St. Stephens Church in Framingham, with burial to follow in St. Patricks Cemetery in Natick. Calling hours are Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Matarese Funeral Home (www.mataresefuneral.com), 325 Main St., Ashland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Lizs memory to Ovations for The Cure (of ovarian cancer), 251 West Central St., Suite 32, Natick, MA 01760.
