Musician, Drummer. Considered as one of Rock's greatest drummers by Rolling Stone magazine, Hawkins who previously served as the touring drummer for Alanis Morissette, joined Foo Fighters in 1997, after the band completed their 1997 album "The Colour and the Shape." With the departure of original drummer William Goldsmith that same year, Hawkins had been a member of the band since, releasing his first Foo Fighters album, "There Is Nothing Left To Lose" (1999). With his jovial, charismatic personality and heavy hitting, unstoppable force as a drummer, he became an integral part of the Foo Fighters, along with founder and frontman Dave Grohl, and other members Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee, Chris Shiflett, and Nate Mendel. In addition to his drumming duties, Hawkins also provided vocals, guitar and piano to various recordings. In a scene straight out of a rock 'n' roll fever dream, Hawkins essentially fronted Led Zeppelin when that band's Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones joined the Foos for a cover of "Rock and Roll" in front of 85,000 at London's Wembley Stadium, in 2008. In 2006, Hawkins released a self-titled LP with his own band, Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders. While the Foo Fighters were on break, Hawkins played in a three-piece cover band, Chevy Metal, and was cast as Rock Icon, Iggy Pop, in the film "CBCG." Hawkins' most recent work included Foo Fighters 2021 album "Medicine at Midnight," along with a project of Bee Gees covers, Foo Fighters' horror film, "Studio 666," and the release of another album with his band in 2022. Hawkins was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Paul McCartney with Foo Fighters in 2021. The Foo Fighters were currently on tour in South America, when he passed away in Colombia, hours before the band was scheduled to perform at Estereo Picnic festival.
