Young Henry Haase's Sudden and Untimely Death
Henry Hasse had spent Saturday night with Carter Gilette, a farmer residing between Watertown and Amherst. They arose about 7 a.m, and ate breakfast. After the meal had been disposed of Gillette showed Haase a gun which he afterwards sold to him and for which Haase was to give a day and a half's labor. Haase left Gillette about 9 a.m., taking the gun with him, and he had gone about thirty rods from the house when the gun was discharged and Gillette, who was milking at the time looked up and saw him lying in the road. He went immediately to the unfortunate young man's assistance, but found that he had died instantly. It is supposed that he was examining the gun when it was discharged accidentally.

The deceased was single and had been living on a homestead near Amherst. Last Saturday he was preparing to make final proof of the same.
