MRS. ISRAEL DIES AT AGE OF 89 YEARS
Six Grandsons Will Act as Pallbearers at Funeral Monday
WAS OLD RESIDENT

Mrs. Elizabeth Cassidy Israel, 89 years old, widow of E. W. Israel and mother of the Israel brothers, died at 10:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of one of her five sons, George W. Israel, 1135 North St. Francis avenue.

Six grandsons of Mrs. Israel will act as pallbearers at funeral services at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at Mr. Israel's residence. They are L. E. Castle, Basil Carter, Robert, Paul, Jay and Charles W. Israel. Burial will be in Highland cemetery.

Mrs. Israel was born in Boston, March 19, 1833. Her father, Emmett Addison Cassidy, was a moulding-guilder. The family moved to Griggsville, Ill., in 1839, where the daughter was married to Elijah Washburn Israel.

Mr. and Mrs. Israel moved to Wichita in 1876. In the eighties Mr. Israel founded a mercantile establishment, engaging in five lines of business in the fourth block on East Douglas avenue. He later formed the "414" real estate office. Mr. Israel died in 1893.

Mrs. Israel was strictly a "home body," as one of her sons spoke of her. "No; she reared thirteen children," was his reply when asked if his mother was active in club affairs. Six of the children now live.

They are George W., Fred W., R. C. and C. Sam Israel of Wichita; H. J. Israel of Denver, and Mrs. J. S. Hollinger of Kansas City.

Mrs. Israel has been an invalid since a fall nine months ago in which she received a broken hip. During her illness she followed our her customs of many years by reading Scripture, and, realizing that she was soon to die, took the matter complacently, as if it were a proposed trip "to join father and daughter."
