DEATH OF ROBERT SHIELDS

Passed Away Yesterday at Home in St. Joseph, Mo.

News was received here yesterday morning by Mrs. J. H. Shields of the death of her eldest son, Robert Prather Shields, at St. Joseph, Mo. Captain Shields, father of the deceased, was at his son's bedside at the time of his death.

Robert Prather Shields was born in Paducah, Ky., Feb. 16, 1869. He came to Wichita with his parents 25 years ago and for many years was employed in this city as a printer. In his youth he worked in his father's printing office and while in Wichita he learned the linotype operator's trade in the Eagle office.

He was married twelve years ago and went to St. Joseph where he has lived most of the time since. For a short time, however, he was employed on a newspaper in Butte, Montana. For the last year he has been in the grocery business in St. Joseph.

He was taken sick last week but was thought that he was improving until shortly before his death yesterday morning. He leaves a widow and three children. The body will be brought to Wichita Thursday morning for burial. The hour of the funeral will not be announced until later.
