He was born in Warwick, a son of the late Manuel and Mary (Silva) Cole.
He leaves his sons Joseph (Heidi) Cole of Johnston, Edward (Christy) Cole of Punta Gorda, Fl., Stephen (Anna Maria) Cole of Cranston.
He was the grandfather of Jennifer (Jamie) Donnelly- Taylor, Joseph (Ashleigh)Cole, Adam Cole, Benjamin Cole, Stephen Cole Jr., and the great grandfather of Brynn Donnelly – Taylor. Olivia Cole, Lyla Cole.
Mr. Cole was the brother of the late Anthony, Joseph, Frank, John, William, Celia Roberti, Louise Strachan, Rose Schiapo and Mary Salvas.
Ed served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1972, during the KoreanWar, Vietnam, and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was an established small arms instructor, in Newport, RI.
Always a hard worker, Ed went straight from his Navy retirement to a 24-year career at RIPTA, followed by Delta Electric. He will always be a lifetime A.T.U. Local 618 member.
Ed was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, as well as an award-winning pool player. He loved his boat and fishing.
His funeral will be held Monday, April 4, 2022, from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. George Maronite Church, 1493 Cranston Street, Cranston.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter, RI, at 12:00noon.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
