Mr. McClain was born in Platte County, MO. He attended Antioch Community Church. During the 1940s, he and his brother, Everett, owned the popular Jockey Club. Later, he was an auto salesman, notably for Sid Street Motors. He was a longtime member of the Excelsior Springs Golf Club, where he made many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Agnes McClain, in 1992. He is survived by his sons, Jack S. McClain of Kansas City, MO, and Howard N. McClain of Louisville, KY; brothers, Jasper McClain of Kansas City, MO, and Earl McClain of Topeka, KS; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren." The Kansas City Star, June 24, 1998
