Eileen was born on June 10, 1934 in the town of Kossuth, daughter of the late Jacob and Mary (Nikolai) Schermetzler. She attended local schools and graduated from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1952. On September 23, 1952, she was married to Edward Staudinger at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2016. The couple farmed in the town of Cato. In the past Eileen served as a 4-H leader and also on the board of directors of the Manitowoc County Expo. Eileen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills and the Marian Council. She enjoyed playing cards, puzzles and reading.
Survivors include her three sons and three daughters-in-law: Bob (Mary Kay) Staudinger, Valders, Gary (Shelly) Staudinger, St. Nazianz, Kevin (Kay) Staudinger, Whitelaw; one son-in-law: Michael Shimon, De Pere; 13 grandchildren: Brian (Angie) Staudinger, Eric (Amanda) Staudinger, Chad (Jen) Staudinger, Brett (Shannon) Staudinger, Jeff (Kristen) Shimon, Amy (Josh) Elmore, Bridget (Brian) Hunter, Kristin Staudinger, Tara Staudinger, Beau Staudinger, Caleb (Challise) Staudinger, Nicole (HB) Wooten, Michael (Alison) Staudinger; 35 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law: Joyce Rhode, Manitowoc, Corrine Staudinger, Reedsville, Marie Schermetzler, Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Jacob and Mary Schermetzler; her husband of 63 years: Edward Staudinger; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Edward and Bertha Staudinger, Sr.; four sons: infant son Michael Staudinger, Kenneth Staudinger, Mark Staudinger, Greg Staudinger; one daughter: Karen Shimon; one step-grandson: Zachary Chiszar; five brothers and four sisters-in-law: Jake (Marcella) Schermetzler, Norbert (Anna) Schermetzler, Leonard (Rose) Schermetzler, Donald (Jeanette) Schermetzler, Bernard Schermetzler; four sisters and brothers-in-law: Irma (Victor) Huber, Helen (Jack) Schultz, Adeline (Fred) Leick, Marie (Norman) Mayer.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The Rev. Richard Klingeisen will celebrate the Mass of Christian burial with burial to follow in the parish cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday 9:00 AM until the time of Mass at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Eileen's name can be made to your favorite charity.
