Albert's LAST LETTER
"Oakland, Cal. July 22, 1904- My Dear Wife and Babies; I fine that I am a failure in every respect. I am no good whatever, only to throw away what little we have and make everybody unhappy. So I will cross the river and see what there is over there. The way I have acted here, I have lost everybody's friendship and the love of my wife and children. So I will bid you all goodbye, with kisses. The I.O.O.F. will bury me. May God be good to you all. Albert Putnam."

Albert committed suicide by carbolic acid poising after writing the letter.
