LILLIAN BLANSETT COOPER BURNSIDE, 87, met Jesus Christ face to face early Wednesday morning, January 9, 2008. She met Jesus Christ for the first time as her Lord and Savior when she was a little girl, born July 31, 1920, in Water Valley, AR. She was preceded in death by three loving and devoted husbands, Les Cooper of 46 years, Foriest Cooper of two years, and Burl Burnside of 2 years. She was co-founder/owner/operator of Les and Ed Cooper Photography business for approximately 40 years. She became very active in Girl Scouts of America by initiating Brownie Troop #168 at Evergreen Presbyterian Church in the 1960's. She enrolled at Memphis State University at the age of 62, graduating at the age of 67 with honors from the College of Arts and Sciences. She was also an avid flower and vegetable gardener. Later she retired to her other home in Hardy, AR where she became a hospital volunteer and loving, active member of the Ward Church of Christ family. After becoming ill she moved in with her daughter Cheryl in Munford, TN and joined the Munford Church of Christ family. She left us peacefully in her sleep in their home after a lengthy illness. She was a very gentle, independent, God-loving woman. We all loved her very deeply. All who knew her could not help but be drawn to her. She has temporarily said goodbye to her only son, "Ed" Lestle Edwin Cooper, Jr. and wife, Doris; daughters, Cheryl Cooper and Leimome Peters Cheeks; brothers, W.T. Blansett (wife, Neva) and Larry A. Blansett (wife, Janet); sisters, Mrs. Ed Bowman (Ruth) and Mary L. Basinger (husband, Pat). She also leaves 10 stepchildren by Foriest Cooper; and two stepchildren by Burl Burnside. There are four nieces and seven nephews, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Church of Christ family members and friends. Visitation, 5-7 p.m., Bartlett Funeral Home, Memphis, TN, Friday, January 11. Services, 11 a.m., Bartlett Funeral Home, Memphis, TN. Saturday, January 12, with graveside services to follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Paragould, AR. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Services entrusted to Bartlett Funeral Home 901-372-5555 (Published in The Commercial Appeal, Memphis, TN on 1/10/2008.)
