Obituary
Leonard G. Chally, 94, of Yorkville went to be with his Lord & Savior on Feb. 22, 2022. He was born to Leonard Sr. and Bertha (Lundy) Chally, on Oct. 26,1927. He was united in marriage to his beautiful wife, Leora Mae Seifert on Feb. 11, 1950, and spent the next 71 wonderful years of marriage together. They lived mostly in the Yorkville area since 1963, on the Chally family farm.

Leonard is survived by four children, Darrell (Vicki) Chally, John (Laurie) Chally, Jerry (Linda) Chally, and Bonnie (Bill) Weeks; his grandchildren, Todd (Amy) Chally, Amy Chally, Mike (Kelly) Chally, Jay Chally, Becky (Jeromy Padgett) Chally, Brittany (Matt) Johns, Adam (Kayla) Chally, Scott (Rachel) Weeks, Trent (Jordan) Weeks, Tanya Weeks, Valerie Zobel, Kari Baum & Lisa Woods; and his great-grandchildren, Ethan, & Addison Chally, Heidi, and Capri Chally, Delilah, Mason, and Tredan Weeks. June Thompson is his only living sibling, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Leonard made his living as a farmer, following in his father's footsteps. He was an active member of Helmar Lutheran Church, where he worshipped and made many life-long friends. Leonard enjoyed playing cards (with a lot of table talk) with family/friends around him. He also enjoyed auctions, garage sales and having garage sales himself. Dad will always be remembered for his genuine smile & giggles as he visited. He trusted in Jesus and shared his faith with others. He was a fan of the Chicago Sport Teams. Dad liked to "sport a cap" daily of his favorite team!

Leonard was preceded in death by his wife Leora; parents, Leonard Sr. and Bertha; and siblings, Vivian (Elmer Walker), Darlene (Kenny Brugh), Barbara Chally, Dale (Joan) Chally, brother-in-law, Milt Thompson.

Leonard's visitation will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Helmar Lutheran Church, 11935 Lisbon Rd., Newark, IL 60541. A funeral service for Leonard will immediately follow the visitation, at 11:30. Interment will take place at Pavillion Cemetery in Yorkville.
