FRANK TOMECEK SR. DIED

Thursday, last week, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Annie Chasak, in the vicinity of Taylor, the oldest parishioner of Granger, Frank Tomecek, at the age of 87 years. The funeral for him was on Saturday and after the Mass, in Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, he was buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery, in Granger. The Mass was offered by Rev. George Tydlacka, with the assistance of Rev. Valenta and Rev. Brown.

The deceased was born in Moravia and in his young age, he came to Texas and to Fayetteville. Later he moved to Granger, where he lived until his death. He helped building the churches in Taylor and in Granger and also helped with arranging the first cemetery.

His wife preceded him into eternity few years ago.

Survivors are his sons, Joseph in Schwertner, Frank in Robstown, Louis in Houston and Anton in Crosby; daughters, Mrs. Francis [should read Frances] English in Corpus Christi, Mrs. Annie Chasak in Taylor, Mrs. Julie Kaderka and Rosie Kocurek in Granger and Mrs. Mary Kocurek in Robstown; 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR FATHER OF JOE TOMECEK

Frank Tomecek, 87, of Taylor, father of Joe Tomecek of Schwertner, died st the home of his daughter, Mrs. Joe B. Chasak, recently.

He was born in Czechoslovakia and came to America about 61 years ago. He was a resident of Granger for about 45 years where funeral services were held at the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church. Solemn requiem mass was offered by Reverend George Tydlacka and assisted by Reverend Ignac Valenta of Corn Hill and Reverend Father Brown of Taylor. He was a member of the KJT Lodge and was a devoted christian. His wife proceeded him in death last year November 11.
