Anne Marshall may have been born in Gloster, Cheltenham. Her father, Charles Marshall, was a coachman when she was born. She was baptized 16 Dec 1822 at St Mary's Parish Church, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England.

1841 - Anne, age 15 years, was enumerated in Aberystwith, Llanbadar Fawr Parish, Cardiganshire, Wales, living with her parents, Charles and Elizabeth Marshall, and Ann Read, probably her maternal grandmother, is also there (visiting or living there is not known). Her father is the proprietor of the Belle Vue Royal Hotel on Marine Terrace.

Anne married solicitor Richard James of Slauwewst (Llanrwst) in 1852. Anne and Richard had at least two daughters, but both died as children.

LLANRWST. DEATH OF MRS RICHARD JAMES.— We regret to record the death of Mrs James, of Dyffryn Aur, which occurred last Sunday. The deceased lady was 70 years of age. The interment took place on Wednesday, at Aberystwyth, of which town the deceased lady was a native.

DEATH.—The remains of Mrs. James, wife of Mr. Richard James, solicitor, Llanrwst, and daughter of the late Mr. Charles Marshall, of the Belle Vue Hotel, who died on the 7th inst were interred at Llanbadarn church on Wednesday of last week.

Gravesite Details

Anne James was interred in the family vault in the Llanbadarn churchyard cemetery, which is completely overgrown now, making it impossible to locate exactly where their vault is located.
