DEATH OF W. D. LAKIN
Summons Came Yesterday Morning, and Had Been Anticipated.
William D. Lakin, at one time a prominent merchant and latterly known as a buyer of produce, died at his home in this village yesterday morning. He had been a helpless invalid for many months and his condition Sunday night had presaged the end. He was 59 years of age. Funeral services Wednesday at 2:00 p. in. Burial in Portland.
Mr. Lakin met with financial reverses both as a merchant and produce dealer, but he bore his misfortunes bravely and never gave up until forced to by ill health. His son, Claude, succeeded to his father's business and later became associated with A. S. Nunnely, under the firm name of Lakin & Nunnely.
At one time Mr. Lakin was prominently identified with the Congregational church. He was a quiet, unassuming citizen, and his demise will be deeply deplored. He is survived by his wife and one son, Claude.
