Deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany on July 28th, 1848 and came to this country when a young man. In the year of 1871 he was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Schaefer at Woodhull, Fond du Lac county. 12 children were born to them of which four have died. His wife also preceded him in death two years ago, since which time he made his home with his daughter. Those surviving him are: Joe at Fond du Lac and Ed. of this city; Mary, Mrs. Joe Mies near Browns Corners; Kate, Mrs. Fred Bonnell, Fond du Lac; Margurite, Mrs. Wm. Schwartz and Henriette, Mrs. Carl Jeske, of this city; Rose, Mrs. Tom Travers at Neda and Nellie, Mrs. Chas. Tinniman of North Milwaukee. Besides these he leaves two brothers, Mike of Oakfield and John at Green Lake.
The funeral will be held Thursday morning at nine o'clock from the late home to St. Mary's Catholic church: Immediately after the services the remains will be taken to Fond du Lac for burial in Calvary Cemetery.

At the home of his son-in-law Joseph Mies and family, three miles south of Mayville, Caspar Hoffmann passed away quietly Monday evening April 21st at 11:30 p.m. at the age of 75 years, eight months and 23 days after an illness of several years at Bright's kidney disease. The deceased was born July 28, 1848 in Muenz, Bavaria, Germany and came to Fond du Lac in 1852, where he married Katherine Schaefer of Woodhull in 1871. In 1894 the family came to Mayville where the deceased was employed at the Steger Brewery. His wife died two years ago and four children preceded their parents in death. He leaves behind two sons and six daughter as follows: Joseph Hoffmann in Fond du Lac; Edwin Hoffmann in Mayville; Mary, Mrs. Joseph Mies near Browns Corner; Katherine, Mrs. Fred Bonnell in Fond du Lac; Rose, Mrs. Tom Travers in Neda; Nelly, Mrs. Carl Thimian in Milwaukee; Margarethe, Mrs. Wilhelm Schwartz and Henrietta, Mrs. Carl Jeske in Mayville. He also leaves behind the following siblings: Michael Hoffmann in Oakfield; John Hoffmann in Green Lake and Mrs. Joseph Clair in Marshfield. Today, Thursday morning, the funeral took place at the Joseph Mies home and at 9 a.m. at the local St. Mary's Catholic Church, under the direction of Pastor R. Kramer. The body was transferred to Fond du Lac to the Zacherel Funeral Parlors, whereupon burial took place in Calvary Cemetery. Arthur and Leo Schwartz, Clarence and Alfons Manthey from here and Oscar Bonnell from Fond du Lac acted as pall bearers.
