Lenore Christel, age 88, entered eternal life on May 1, 2022. Lenore was the youngest child of Henry and Barbara Hunsader of Manitowoc.

Lenore is survived by her husband of 63 years, Chuck Christel, three children: Judy (Chuck) Stangel, Peter Christel, and Jean Christel, three grandchildren, Erin (Jim) Spencer, Kelsey (Zach) Buehl, and Matthew (Bridget Suda) Stangel, and 4 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by sisters-in-law: Joyce Hunsader, Connie Hunsader, Janice Hunsader, Marilyn Christel and Sue Christel, brothers-in law, Norbert Christel and Don Christel, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, nine brothers and sisters: Mabel Tienor, Dona Shimon, Mark Hunsader, Bob Hunsader, Dorothy Zik, Ruth Holsen, Jim Hunsader, Jeanne Lewis, and Paul Hunsader, brothers-in-law Leonard Tienor, Clarence Shimon, Florian Zik, Ken Holsen, Ed Holsen, Pat Christel and Allen Christel, sisters-in-law, Margaret Hunsader, Carole Holsen, and Thyrza Christel.

Lenore was always busy and worked at a number of area businesses, including Associated Bank, Stocks' Supper Club, The Left End Supper Club, Manitowoc Plumbing Supply, and Salutz and Salutz Law Firm. She was the best Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader and could always be counted on to lend a hand if anyone needed it, especially to her family or neighbors. She was a very good cook, but would not admit it. In her free time, she enjoyed playing water volleyball at the HFM Wellness Center, Sewing, Knitting, completing word puzzles, and Reading. She was especially fond of everyone's pets and enjoyed watching the backyard wildlife in her yard. Lenore really liked driving her Mini-Cooper and always joked about wanting her own desert island. We hope she is relaxing there now. She was known to be pretty lucky at the Green Bay casino.

Lenore's family wishes to extend a special thank you to neighbors Ken and Mary Schuh and Tracy and Greg Johnsrud for their support and Compassus Hospice for helping to keep Lenore comfortable.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 6, 2022 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 8100 Brunner Road, Newton, WI 53063. Officiating at the Mass will be the Rev. David Beaudry with a luncheon to follow. The family will greet relatives from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lenore's name to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.
