Ernest was the son of John/William Korpi from Finland and had immigrated in 1905. He was a miner for the Sunday Lake Mining Company and lived in Hurley, Wisconsin. Ernest married Tynni Kevesto, the daughter of Victor and Elma Keesko Kevesto, on 14 March 1925 in Gogebic County, and they had Eugene and Virginia. He was 5'8" tall, had a slender build, blue eyes, and brown hair. Ernest died in a fall of ground in the mine at Montreal, Wisconsin. He was 54 years 4 months and 8 days of age.
