Ernest married Tynni Kevesto, the daughter of Victor and Elma Keesko Kevesto, on 14 March 1925 in Gogebic County, and they had Eugene and Virginia. He was 5'8" tall, had a slender build, blue eyes, and brown hair. Ernest died in a fall of ground in the mine at Montreal, Wisconsin. He was 54 years 4 months and 8 days of age.
