TAYLORVILLE - Ruby M. Phillips, 83, of Taylorville died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at St. John's Hospital.
She was born Sept. 11, 1924, in Linton, Ind., the daughter of John H. and Hazel Sims Rusher. She married Floyd A. Phillips Sr. on Sept. 19, 1943, in Indianapolis; he preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1992. Her parents; a great-grandchild; brother, Clifford O. Rusher, Vernon C. Rusher and James W. Rusher; and sister, Fern L. Irish, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Phillips retired as a waitress at Slocums Restaurant. She was a member of Christian County Senior Citizens Center. Ruby was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are her sons, Floyd A. Phillips Jr. of Lincoln, Jerry L. Phillips of Taylorville and Dale M. (wife, Cindy) Phillips of Springfield; daughters, Zona E. Skeens of Tampa, Fla., Nancy L. (husband, Richard) Cleeton of Okanogan, Wash., and Peggy (husband, John) Champley of Mount Zion; 17 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008, at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Services will be at noon Wednesday at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville, with Father Dan Willenborg officiating. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
