Mr. James Ernest Adair went home to be with his Lord on December 23, 2002.

Mr. Adair was born June 26, 1918 in South Carolina to Charles Newton and Cora Smith Adair. He came to Monroe for military service in the Air Force during W.W. II, stationed at Selman Field. Mr. Adair was instrumental in Lance Corporation locating sales operations in North Louisiana. He then served as sales representative for many years. He retired as Territorial Supervisor for Jack's Cookies in 1970.

During his retirement James enjoyed training horses and recreational horseback riding, where he won many ribbons in walking horse and racking competitions. Even though he was small in statue, he had a big heart and helped people of all ages over many years. He was a man of prayer and enjoyed sharing God's Word. Mr. Adair was a member of the First Baptist Church, West Monroe, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Allen and Calvin Adair.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Brooks Adair and children Lee Roy Adair and wife Camille, Dona Funderburk and husband Jim, grandchildren, Jim Funderburk, II, Laura F. Parrott, Allison A. Taylor and Bryan Adair, great grandchildren, Lauren Futch, Ethan Funderburk and Rylee Parrott, brothers, Henry, Cecil, Carroll, Wilfred, and Ralph Adair, sisters, Sarah Simpson and Willie Hughes, all of South Carolina, and many nieces and nephews in Louisiana & South Carolina.

Pallbearers will be Jim Funderburk, II, Bryan Adair, Ben C. Brooks, Cleve Brooks, Dale Adair, Jimmy Mitchell, Jeff Smith, and Lonnie Shank.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 27, 2002 in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Rev. Charles Martindale and Rev. Marlin Corley officiating. Burial will be in the Twin Cities Memorial Gardens Cemetery in West Monroe.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday December 26, 2002 at the Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
