John Carrol Adair, 86, resident of 221 Autumn Trace, husband of Margaret Williams Adair, died June 9. 2010 at Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home in Anderson.

Born in Greenville County, June 20, 1923, he was a son of the late Charles Newton Adair and Cora Smith Adair. Mr. Adair was a US Army Veteran of World War II where he was a Prisoner of War for eight months. He retired from the US Post Office after 32 years of service.

Mr. Adair was a member of North Side Baptist Church and the Adult Mens Sunday School Class. He was a previous member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Laurens and Rabun Creek Baptist Church in Hickory Tavern.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a son, C. Dale Adair and wife Gwen of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Kim DeLoach and husband Michael of Greenville, Dawn Phillips and husband Brent of Greenwood and Kristi Valentine and husband Jeff of Anderson; seven great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Walker, Samantha, Corban, Emma, Zack and Ashlyn; a brother, Ralph and wife Kris Adair of N. Charleston; two sisters, Willie Hughes and husband Richard and Sara Mitchell Simpson, all of Ware Shoals; two sisters-in-law, Billie Adair of Fountain Inn and Mary Adair of Farmington, LA. He was predeceased by six brothers, Calvin, Allen, Ernest, Henry, Cecil and Wilfred Adair.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Lethco and Rev. A.B. Parsons officiating.

Entombment with Military Honors will be in Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Adair, Gerald Mitchell, Rory Adair, Larry Adair, Rick Hughes and Will Bailey.

The family is at the home in Autumn Trace and will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 Saturday morning.
