Anita was born in Newark, NJ, the devoted daughter of Katherine (nee McBride) and John J. Dillon. A graduate of St. Vincent Academy, she worked in payroll and accounting at Prudential in downtown Newark, where her warmth, sharp mind, generous spirit and keen fashion sense were loved by all. She enjoyed travel, and as a young woman had many adventures, from enjoying New York City, to driving across the country with her friends and Mom in tow, to sailing across the Atlantic with her best friend Gloria to tour Europe. Caring and kind, she had a wonderful sense of humor, and had many stories to tell about their escapades. It was while joining Gloria's large family dinners at home that she met and later married Gloria's brother Vince, and they were devoted to each other for 48 years until his passing in 2011.

Anita left her business career to focus on her most treasured role, being a mom. She settled in Summit, and was actively engaged in family life, whether hosting school picnics, serving as Girl Scout troop leader, leading catechism classes, or welcoming friends. Ever the leader, she had incredible strength, and was a pillar for many. She was a thoughtful friend and gracious host and was sure to keep everyone well-fed with her delicious cooking and the best after-school snacks in town.

Resourceful and driven, when Anita set her mind to something, she would make it happen. She loved the shore, and her childhood memories of happy summer vacations there drove her to find a beach house in Sea Girt, which became a source of joy for family and friends. She had a zest for life, boundless energy and loved to visit her daughter each place she lived, including what turned out to be the same south of France town, Toulouse, where she stayed during the European trip of her youth. She was thrilled to trace her roots in Ireland and Vince's roots in Italy with her daughter and son-in-law. She was equally happy enjoying a cold beer watching the Yankees or Giants on TV, and watching her beloved Jeopardy every evening. She especially loved time with her friends, whether playing in her weekly Bridge group, sharing a meal or grabbing a cup of coffee together. She was deeply devoted to her faith, which guided her journey, and she attended mass every day.

Anita's greatest love was for her family, and she was overjoyed at becoming Grandma to her four beautiful grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy. She was thrilled to become an integral part of their daily lives these past few years, and was grateful to her dearly loved caregivers.

An indomitable spirit, she was ever upbeat, positive, determined, tenacious, generous, selfless and loving. Always putting herself last, she was sure to take care of everyone else first, especially her family. With sparkling eyes and a smile that could light up the room, Anita connected easily with people. It somehow felt like she wrapped you in a giant hug, putting you immediately at ease and making you feel at home and cared for, like warm cocoa on a cold day. Her candy dishes were always full, her Irish eyes were smiling, and she made life so much better for so many. She will be sorely missed.

In addition to her beloved husband Vincent, Anita was predeceased by her devoted sister-in-law Gloria Addonizio; her brother John, her sister Frances, and her many loving in-laws.

Donations in Anita's memory may be made to the Dominican Nuns, Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary, Summit, N.J.
