James 'J.C.' Trout, age 76, of Warne, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, May 20, 2022. He was a native and lifetime resident of Clay County. After "graduating from Ogden University", as he liked to say, J.C. worked as a telephone contractor for 23 years. While working for the telephone industry, he developed a love of and knowledge for technology. His homework station was evidence of this as he continually tinkered with and improved upon the latest tech, from CB radios, satellites, and computers. J.C. could troubleshoot almost any problem and often used his skills in generous service for others. His other interests over the years included mowing lawns, model trains, and building and flying R.C. Airplanes. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
His greatest joys, however, were found in the people he loved and shared life with. After marrying the love of his life, Joyce Henson Trout, in 1967, and later celebrating the birth of his only child, Brian, J.C. spent the remainder of his days as a devoted husband, father, and Papaw. J.C. would say that there was no other woman like Joyce and she was responsible for keeping him going over the years. He was a constant presence and support with anything Brian participated in and was well known for filming sporting events and spending countless hours making copies for all the players on the team. Perhaps his most cherished role came as a birthday gift when his first grandchild, Lily, was born on his 60th birthday and made him a Papaw. Lily was soon followed by his first grandson, Landon, and then his "China Doll" Lucy. These three brought so much joy to his life, only rivaled by the joy he brought to them. J.C. was never shy about sharing his love and sense of humor with them and his "Papaw jokes and stories" will forever be remembered. His role as a Husband, Father and Papaw brought him the most joy in life, and a close second would be the friendships he forged over the years. J.C. loved a good cup of coffee and spent many hours talking and laughing with folks over a few cups. He loved people.. he loved life.. and he was always a fighter for both.

J.C. was the son of the late John Dillard "Jake" and Clara Belle Walker Trout. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Wanda McTaggart, Ella Faye Teems, and Eva Adams, and two brothers, Bobby Ray and Junior Trout.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, one son, one brother, and three grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Reverends Dennis Miles and Buddy Pittman officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Reffit, Pat Up, Danny Ledford, Dewayne McTaggart, Don Anderson, and Vernon Adams. Honorary pallbearers will be Arlan Ledford and Chris Busbee.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:45 Wednesday, May 25 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in memory of James 'J.C.' Trout to the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 190, Warne, NC 28909.
