Christian Jensen, 73, of East Pickwick Park Drive, Syracuse, Ind., died at 9:17 p.m. on Friday, May 23, at the Goshen General Hospital emergency room after being stricken at home.
Mr. Jensen was born on Nov. 3, 1923, in Sonderborg, Denmark, to Christian and Anna (Brock) Jensen.
He attended public schools in Denmark and worked with the Danish underground during the Nazi occupation of World War II. After the war, he worked for the American armed forces in Germany for the Army Corps of Engineers. He came to the United States in 1950 and became a naturalized citizen.
Mr. Jensen worked for the Precision Rubber Company in Dayton, Ohio, and in Lebanon, Tenn., eventually becoming president of that company. He came to Ligonier, Ind., in 1973 as the general manager of the Ligonier Rubber Company, and was president from 1980 until his retirement in 1985.
He was active with the Rotary Club and the Boy Scouts during his residence in Tennessee.
On Oct. 22, 1981, in Warsaw, Ind., he married Frances Miller, who survives. He is also survived by three stepsons, Talbott Miller of Dallas, Texas, Robert B. Miller of South Bend, Ind., and Keith A. Miller of Indianapolis, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Anne Evans of Harwood, Md.; two sisters, Annemarie Larsen and Nina Koch, both of Denmark; four stepgrandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the All Saints Episcopal Church on Lake Wawasee in Syracuse, with Rev. Dabney Smith officiating. Interment services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind.
