Earlene (Bearce) Dawson, age 90, of Peoria, IL, quietly went home to Jesus on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 8:34 a.m., within UnityPoint Health-Proctor.

She was born on May 20, 1932, in Wyoming, IL, to parents, Earl and Mabel (DeLong) Bearce. On June 9, 1952, Earlene wed William A. Dawson in Peoria.

Surviving Earlene are her loving husband of 70 years, William; sons, Peter Dawson of Peoria, IL, and Frederick (Pamela) Dawson of Pekin, IL; grandchildren, Chad Dawson of Pekin, Brandy (Dany Sarraf) Dawson of Peoria, Jill (Rick Hoffman) Dawson of Peoria, Ian (Angela) Dawson of Pekin and Lt. Colonel Kurtis (Raquel) Sargent of Albany, GA; great-grandchildren, Mady Shanine, Lexie Tomevi, Ethan Dawson, Maia Dawson, Cole Dawson, Dawson Hoffman, Delaney Hoffman, Genessa Dawson, CJ Dawson, RiShann Ware and Kurtis Sargent Jr.; great-great-grandchildren, Rylee Ware and Ky Lyna Sargent; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Earlene was preceded in death by her father, Earl; mother, Mabel DeLong Hayward; infant sister; two brothers, Charles (Rosemary) Bearce and Gary Hayward; and two daughters-in-law, Christine and Nancy Dawson.

She was a high school graduate who retired from her position as a claims adjustor from Traveler's Insurance in 1977. Earlene was an avid Cubs fan; loved to paint, bake and crochet; and was involved in many groups, including the ladies groups at her church, the Abbas Grotto D.O.M. and the D.A.R. Earlene shared a special bond with her dog, Ebony. She was also a member of First English Lutheran Church and loved her family and the Lord Jesus, above all else.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 10, 2022, at First English Lutheran Church, with Pastor Ryan Anderson officiating. A one-hour visitation will be held prior to the service. Interment will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
