Theodore "Theo" Ray Alderman, 67, passed away at home on Monday, June 6, 2022, after a brief battle with cancer.

Funeral service with military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Lensing's Oak Hill Funeral Home in Coralville, Iowa. Interment will take place at Hope Lutheran Church Cemetery near Brighton, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to an organization of the donor's choice that supports animal welfare. Theo was born on October 19, 1954, in Des Moines to Dale and Phyllis (Sanders) Alderman. After attending high school, Theo enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he was honorably discharged after 6.5 years of devoted service.
On August 7, 2003, he married Karen Taglauer on the "Big Island" of Hawaii. Over the past 19 years, the couple have enjoyed each other's company, adventures and love for one another.

Theo had a long career as a counselor at the Meyer Hall Juvenile Detention Center in Des Moines. He also owned and operated a tree trimming business.

Fishing, boating and traveling (especially to Hawaii!) were all things that Theo loved to do. However, his greatest passion was supporting animal welfare and loving on his two puppies: Koko and Snow.

Theo is survived by his cherished wife, Karen; children Lori, Aimee and Bryan Alderman; and siblings Mike Alderman, Gary (Tammi) Alderman, Rosie (Jack) Archer, Penny (Arnie) Brenizer and Randy (Cindy) Alderman. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry Alderman.

The family would like to thank the Holden Cancer Center for their expert and compassionate care.
