HARNESS, JASPER – Was born Dec. 15, 1896, departed this life April 24, 1951, was baptised in the Bull Creek Church June 6, 1926, was ordained as a deacon of the church Sept. 3rd, Saturday, 1929. He was a faithful member of the church for over 25 years or until God sent the angel to call him away. He lived seven days alike, he was always ready to give his children advice how to live. Many times we have heard him praying asking the Lord to be with the children until they made themselves ready to meet God in Peace. He was married to MARTHA LAWSON in 1917. To this union were born 1 son FRED, 2 stepsons, HUGH L. and ARLIE, 1 stepdaughter ARTENCEY and 2 grandchildren, WILLIS RAY and OMA. He also leaves 4 brothers JOHNIE and CLIFFORD and JESIE and ARZO, two sisters GERTIE and MERTIE , he leaves many friends to mourn his absence and may his children and brothers and sisters prepare to meet in the air. May our loss be his eternal gain in Glory. (Source: Minutes of the West Union Assoc. of United Baptist Churches, 1952, p19)
