Myrtle Baisden Preece, 74, of Delbarton, WV, returned to her Heavenly home on June 20, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

On October 20, 1947, the late Landen and Fannie Baisden were blessed with their only daughter.

The oldest of six children, Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents and her baby brother, Bobby Lee. She leaves behind her brothers, whom she adored, Landen (Misty) Baisden, II, James Ed (Bonnie) Baisden, Gary (Tina) Baisden, and Bruce (Susan) Baisden, along with her special cousin, who was more like a sister, Alberta "Birdie" Vance.

She will be greatly missed by her beloved husband of 42 years, John Warren Preece; her three sons, Ronnie Lee (Crystal) Blankenship, Warren K. (Carla) Preece and Greg (Teresa) Preece; nine grandchildren, Caleb, Calvin, and Jonathan (Katie) Blankenship, Josh Vance, Ashlee (Jimmy) Gilman, Warren "Bub" (Ashley) Preece, Lindsey (Brandon) Browning, Taliha (J.R.) Chafin, and Zach (Erika) Preece; eleven great-grandchildren, Keaton Woolum, Hudson, Candice Gilman, Cooper and John Browning, John Arlis and Joshalynn "Trixie" Marcum, Lee (Jasmine) Chafin, and Aubree, Connor, and Gavin Preece; one great-great-granddaughter, her little lady, Mary "MK" Woolum.

Myrtle touched the lives of countless children in her 56 years as an educator. She began her career working at Lenore High School. While working, she attended college at Marshall University where she obtained a degree in elementary education, graduating with honors. Throughout her teaching career, she worked at many schools including Dingess Elementary, Lenore Grade School, Chattaroy Grade School, Nolan Grade School, and Riverside Elementary.

After her retirement, Myrtle enjoyed spoiling her husband and countless grandchildren. Her days were spent tending to her flowers, lounging by the pool, and preparing her famous peanut butter chocolate fudge and spaghetti, never forgetting the mushrooms. In typical Myrtle fashion, everything in her home was perfectly placed, just like her hair.

Those in the community knew her as a true lady, always classy and soft-spoken. However, the children on Riffe Branch knew her for popcorn, and they never missed her house on trick-or-treat night! If you stopped by on Christmas, you always had a present under her tree. Giving was her nature, and she did it effortlessly.

Family, friends, and others whose lives Myrtle touched are invited to Evans Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV, on Friday, June 24, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. to celebrate and reminisce her memory.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. G.W. Mounts officiating.

Burial will follow in Baisden Family Cemetery at Dingess, WV. Myrtle's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
