Private Caleb Horne,a farmer from Oakdale was recruited and mustered at the age of 21 on Dec. 31, 1861 for a period of 3 yrs.; In Company I - 97th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He died of disease at the U. S. Hospital, David's Island, N. Y., on June 27, 1864 and was buried in Cypress Hill Cemetery, Long Island, grave 1,006.

My records show Caleb Horne was born in 1840. He appears in the 1850 Census as 10 years of age.
