Occupation: Hotel Proprietor, Beverley Arms Hotel Beverley
The Beverley Arms Hotel on North Bar Within, previously known as the Blue Bell Inn, was refurbished in the 1700s into the Georgian building seen today. It was renamed 1794 to the Beverley Arms. Originally, from the 1840s to 1890s, it was a posting house on the turnpike road between Beverley and Hull. When the Morely family bought the property in the 1850s they were not just buying a hotel, but a billiard room, coach houses, a brewhouse, barns, outbuildings and a garden that extended the whole length of Wood Lane.
