This is just an excert of a history written by By Evelyn Aley Scott in 1978 - granddaughter by marriage to Phillip Scott.

It was in Dade County, Missouri that Phillip (Scott son of Jeremiah and Matilda Bennett Scott) met and married his wife, Nancy Elizabeth (Divine), who was the oldest of fifteen children, most of whom were born in Monroe County, Tennessee to William Riley Divine and his wife, Millie (Webb). This family moved west to Missouri, Dade Co., when Elizabeth was twelve years of age, (1857). Phillip and Nancy Elizabeth were married there in 1869. Phillip and Nancy Elizabeth (Divine) Scott migrated to Cedar Vale, Kansas vicinity, living on the farm north of Caney River, then to a farm two miles northeast of town. Four of their children were born in Missouri, the eldest died there and the other three, as small children coming to Kansas with them - Martha Ann, Robert S., and Charles Edward. Two more were born in Kansas - Luther and Clyde. In time these all married and raised families, remaining in this area for most of their lives....
Martha Ann Scott, daughter of Phillip and Nancy Elizabeth Scott, married John G. Hollister. Their family of eight all were born in Chautauqua County, Kansas. Two daughters died young - the other six, Everett, Minnie, Alma, Robert, Ezra and Victor, all grew up and lived in the area, either near Cedar Vale, Sedan or Hewins, Kansas. At present, (1978) only the two daughters, Minnie (Williams) and Alma (Howe) are living (Miami, Okla.) and one son Victor, lives in Arkansas City, Kansas.
Robert S. Scott, son of Philip and Nancy Elizabeth Scott, married Winnie May Harns and lived five and one half miles northeast of Cedar Vale for five and on-half years, then moved to a farm just three miles northeast of town where six of the eight children born to them grew up. The other two, son died in infancy and Zella died at the age of nine years. At present, Norla Scott Hagadone lives at Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; Christine Scott Eberly lives at Nampa, Idaho; Alice Scott Kittredge at Spokane Wash.; Lela Scott Jent at Denver, Colo.' Ora F. Scott and wife Evelyn (Aley) live in Cedar Vale, KS. A brother Ralph, who did live at Howe, Idaho, came to Kansas to visit and became ill while here and died.
Charles Edward Scott, son of Phillip and Nancy Elizabeth Scott, married Rosa Brown and they lived most of their lives in or near Cedar Vale, KS, except for a few years near Nowata, Okla. Six Children were born - one son, Willard, died quite young and on son Lloyd was slain at a service station. The others are - Charles Otis of Sedan, KS: Cecil of Howe, Idaho; Hubert of Cedar Vale, KS; and one daughter Helen Scott Johnson of Los Vegas, Nev.
Orlin Luther, son of Philip and Nancy Elizabeth Scott, married Sarah Gammon and two children were born - Rufus, who died in 1958 leaving no offspring, also a daughter Gladys who died quite young.
Clyde Scott, son of Phillip and Nancy Elizabeth Scott, married Maud (UNK) had one son Rae Scott. Rae married and had one daughter Mary Jane Scott.
