John E. Bonwell, 58, Manson, died Thursday morning in the Chelan hospital, following a two-month illness.

He was born May 24, 1921, at Waterville, and later moved with his family to the Chelan area, where he attended school in the Boyd District.

Mr. Bonwel was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army. Following his discharge he returned to Chelan, where he was employed locally for two years. He later moved to Walla Walla, and then to Mansfield, where he was employed on wheat ranches.

On Feb. 17, 1951, he married Doris Sorensen at Lewiston, Idaho. In 1957 they moved to Manson and since 1961, Mr. Bonwell owned and operated his own orchard.

Mr. Bonwell was a member of the Manson Grange.

Survivors include his wife, Doris, at home; one daughter, Barbara Tyrrell, Okanogan; seven sisters, Grace McGuire of Texas, Mavis Long of Entiat, Gladys Jacobson of Wenatchee, Alta Case of Waterville, Eunice Riley of Chelan, Elsie Whitehall of Omak and Anna Waddell of Malott; one brother, Gene, East Wenatchee, and two grandchildren.
