Bio

Carolina came to Canada after WWII. She was 20 years old when she arrived in Ottawa. She worked for a number of years at the Ottawa Hospital.

Carolina's 1st marriage was to Antoni Cwiklinski in Kingston. Married at St. Mary's Cathedral. I will validate their marriage date.

Caroline, loved gardening. She had a large vegetable garden at their home and even a larger one at their cottage. She was always giving us tomatoes, cucumbers and carrots. Every year Caroline would plant Kohlrabi, a German vegetable ... which was a favorite of hers.
At their home they planted various fruit trees over the years - cherry, plum, pear and a gooseberry bush.
She always shared her gardening tips. She taught me how to keep geraniums & begonias over the winter. She had the most beautiful yellow begonias all planted at the back of her home. A couple other favorite flowers graced her gardens were 'Forget me nots' and 'Pink Poppies'. Which she gave me as seed and to this day are still blooming in my garden.

Caroline always called me over when she would be having her German bread dumplings 'Knodel' ... as she would call them.

When telling Caroline about something that happened to you or in the news. She would always say 'Imagine that'. Caroline also had a hearty laugh.
Tony took ill in the fall of 1971. Caroline had him at home caring and keeping him comfortable. Many a nights she slept on the floor in the hallway outside his bedroom.
Tony died March 4, 1972.

Alex and Carolina were engaged around Easter 1973 and married shortly after.

** She was known by her neighbors as Carolyn. I have always called her Caroline since the age of 5**
