My beloved cat, Precious, was a white and black calico kitten who I raised from a baby. She was born at the first college I attended. Her mother was a stray gray and white calico cat who lived on campus and when Precious was just born, her mother took her to one of the main buildings where there was food for all the stray animals to eat from. As classes where in the process of changing, she would've been stomped if we hadn't lifted her off the ground. We did try to reunite mother and kitten but with no luck. Unfortunately, her mother wanted nothing more to do with her as we were strangers to her and she didn't know us or recognize our scent on her kitten.
From that moment on Precious became my responsibility, and I reared her with a mother's love. She lived to be just over 17 years of age. She was my heart, my joy, my 'daughter', and I miss her each and ever day.
