Charles Hoover, 88, of Camden, died Saturday, April 4, at Woodland Country Manor Nursing Home near Somerville. Born July 11, 1909, in Irvine, Ky., he was the son of James and Loutisha (Miller) Hoover. He was a self-employed well driller for many years, had served several terms as mayor of Camden, and was a Kentucky Colonel. He married Geneva Winkle on July 7, 1932, in Estill County, Ky., and she preceded him in death on April 4, 1997. Two brothers and six sisters are also deceased.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Yolanda and Ray Murphy of Camden, Norma and James Deem of Dayton, Inas and Carl Clark of Hamilton; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Carolyn Hoover of Troy, Charles Jr. and Barbara Hoover of Chicago, Ill., Del and Pat Hoover of Eaton; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, April 10, at the First Southern Baptist Church, 35 N. Liberty St., Camden, with the Rev. Greg Jackson officiating. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden. R.C. Nein & Sons-Limber Funeral Home/Willard Moss Jr. Memorial Chapel, Camden, was in charge of arrangements.
