Dean was born on July 13, 1936 near Oswego to Jim and Nell Dixon. He attended Ground Hog School and was a 1954 graduate of McCune High School.
He was a long time farmer, farming 50 years with his dad. He was known for taking excellent care of his machinery and was a good farmer.
Dean's grandchildren and great grandchildren were a great joy to him. Until his illness he was an active member of the McCune Nazarene Church.
He and Mila Samp were married November 3, 1956. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Terri Davis and husband Duane, of McCune; granddaughters, DeNene Flaharty and husband Brian and Stacey Brooks and husband Tom; grandson, Brandon Davis and wife Sarah; great-grandchildren, Kalyn and Breann Flaharty, Zachary and Brett Davis and Peyton, Rylee and Avery Brooks.
Dean was preceded in death by his son, Gary Dean, his parents Jim and Nell Dixon and an infant brother, Johnnie Lee.
There will be a private family funeral on Monday. Friends are welcome to sign the register book at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons on Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to either the McCune Church of the Nazarene, the McCune Cemetery Fund or the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. They may be left at or sent to the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
