He was born August 20, 1938, at Bozeman, Mont., to Ray E. and Lena (Verwolf) Ross Sr. The family moved to Chelan in 1943 where he grew up and attended school. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1956 and served until his honorable discharge in 1960, then lived in several cities on the West Coast until 1975 when he moved to Billings, Mont. While living there, Mr. Ross worked out of the local Teamsters Union, driving truck.
He married Tana Damaree on June 23, 1979, at Walla Walla and they made their home in Milton-Freewater where he was a truck driver. He began work for Mountain Express out of Walla Walla in 1987. The company later changed names to Transportation Systems and relocated in Sacramento, Calif.
Survivors include his wife, at home; two sons, Michael Ross, Sunnyside, and Steven Ross, at home; three daughters, Cristen Ross, San Francisco, Jennifer Ross, Billings, and Cari Ross, at home; three brothers, Carl Ross, Blythe, Calif., Walter Ross, Folsom, Calif., and Ray Ross, Los Lumas, N.M.; nine sisters, Vernia Danley, Las Vegas, Irene Baker, Three Forks, Mont., Lucille Hedrich, Chelan, Velma Uylaki, West Covina, Calif., Bertie McGrath, Ellensburg, Idamay Rush, Everett, Corabelle Nelson, Malaga, Dolly Morton, Stockton, Calif., and Patty Stonebreaker, Sacramento; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
