She was born March 23, 1928 in Salt Lick, KY. While in her late teens, she moved to Waterloo, IN. There she met James Stonebraker whom she married on June 12, 1948.
They shared 54 years of married life until Jim went home to be with the Lord in 2003. She was a loving mother to Jill (Jack) Eggett of Apopka, FL, Jack (Glenda) Stonebraker, Kenny Stonebraker and Gary (Teri) Stonebraker all of Kissimmee, FL. She was also a loving grandmother to Jennifer, Jason, Samantha, Steve, John and Mari Stonebraker all of whom affectionately called her MeMe, and a great grandmother to Christian James Stonebraker. She will be missed dearly by all of them.
She was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Kissimmee where for many years she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Many of the children she taught on those Sunday's still have fond memories of Miss Mattie.
After she raised her children, she turned her love of flowers into a business with Four Seasons Floral Design which she operated for 15 years until her retirement at age 66. Many longtime Kissimmee residents still remember the loving care she put into the floral arrangements that she created for them.
After retirement she and Jim enjoyed traveling in their motor home to Kentucky and Indiana to visit relatives and friends. They also enjoyed spending time relaxing at campgrounds on Weekend trips.
She is also survived by her brothers, Lowell Shepherd and Woodrow Shepherd of Indiana, and sister's Jeanetta Terry of Indiana, Dolly Ratliff and Edna Bailey of Kentucky, as well as many nieces and nephews. She will truly be missed by her family and friends, whose lives were influenced by her deep faith and love of God.
