His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing, and he shared that passion with his son, grandson, nephews (Randy and Rusty) and nieces (Kris, Jen, Paula and Barb). He lived in Watertown all his life working at Scott's Engineering and then for the city of Watertown.
He enjoyed and spent countless hours watching his children and grandchildren Renae Williamson (Greg), Vanessa (Tyler Hill) Fischer and Jarrod (Sarah) Fischer participate in various sports and an occasional concert. He enjoyed growing roses and taking care of his house and took over its full care after his wife Joyce passed away in June of 1989.
As of this Christmas, he was still playing with his great grandchildren (Luke, Ryan, Addison and Lauryn). He had a number of dogs that were treated more like children than pets. The last few years of his life he lived with either of his children in Northern South Dakota or the Minneapolis area.
Don passed away on Sunday July 17th 2022, knowing he was loved by many.
Thanks to so many who added to his life, and made it fun and easier for him to stay in Watertown for so long.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown with Pastor Rondeau-Bassett officiating.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church.
Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Watertown, SD. Military Honors will be conducted by Northeast South Dakota Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1054.
Pallbearers will be his family and friends.
Memorials can be made to Codington County Pheasant Restoration.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Vanessa; his wife, Joyce; and two brothers, Paul and Jake and his niece Barb.
