Anna was a victim of the arson attack on Kyoto Animation's Studio, on the morning of July 18, 2019. A disgruntled anime fan walked into the lobby of Studio 1, and set the building on fire with 40 litres of gasoline. As the fire was detonated right by the front entrance, numerous people were trapped, or severely wounded trying to escape. In total, 36 lives were lost in the KyoAni arson attack, and the studio sustained a massive loss of finances and already-completed art.

Anna died of sepsis after months fighting for her life in the hospital, due to the severe burns she received that day. She worked as a production manager on multiple KyoAni projects, such as "Violet Evergarden" and "Free! -Dive to the Future".
