Herbert Lee "Shag" Jenkins, Jr, 84, of Locust Grove, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at Culpeper-UVA Hospital, Culpeper, Va. He was the son of the late Herbert L. and Vergie E. Fincham Jenkins.
Shag was a father, brother, uncle, friend, and family to all. He was affectionately called the "firework and hooch man."
Along with his parents, Shag was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Jenkins (Burress); a son, Herbert Jenkins III; three brothers, Earl Jenkins, Russell Jenkins and Kenny Jenkins; and two sisters, Peggy Wiggins and Catherine Hawkins.
He is survived by a sister, Pauline E Husted; son, Randy Sprouse; and grandsons, Garrett Sprouse and Donovan Sprouse.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, with a funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Unionville, VA. Reverend Amos Healy will officiate the service. Pallbearers for the service will be Matthew Jenkins, Faron Smith, Charles Esker, Eric Stewart, Duncan Orr, Ronnie Rollins, Paul Jenkins and Randy Sprouse.
