After years of declining health, our father passed away late Tuesday night, July 26, 2022 at his place of residence at Abernethy Laurels Retirement Community in Newton.

Born at home April 6, 1937 on County Home Road in Conover to the late Charlie Francis Aaron and Junie Edna Kaylor Aaron, he graduated from St. Stephens High School in 1956, joined the U.S. Army, then married mom in 1957.

A member of the 82nd Airborne in his early career, his service took him (and sometimes us) to many places across the United States and abroad, and from time to time, his government "politely" asked him to spend long periods of time away from his family. Serving his country for twenty and a half years, he was a Vietnam Veteran and a Bronze Star recipient, a service and distinction we are all very proud of. After retiring from the Army, he held numerous positions, including working for Carolina Kenworth and Abernethy Laurels. Gentle and kind-hearted, he lovingly took care of mom, who had been ill for many years during their "golden years".

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by our mother, Julia Ann Yount Aaron; a brother, William Hill Aaron; a sister, Wilma Rose Aaron Metcalf; a brother, Charles Franklin Aaron; and a son-in-law, Chet Brooks.

He is survived by:

2 Sons: Jimmy Aaron Jr. (Elizabeth) of Ronda, Brien Keith Aaron of Newton

2 Daughters: Leslie Tina Aaron Brooks of Conover, Edie June Aaron Connor (Charles III) of Claremont

8 Grandchildren, 11 Great-Grandchildren

He was a dedicated soldier, husband, and father. We love you, dad, and we will truly miss you. You will always live in our hearts. So, now we lay our father to rest beside our mother, to once again watch over her.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Claremont.
