Burial services for Myrl Andrew McClenahan, 49, prominent architect of Ogden who died Monday night, will be held Friday at two p. m. in the L. D. S. Fourth ward. Bishop Lawrence H. Evans of the Sixth ward will officiate, assisted by Bishop Edward T. Saunders of the Fourth ward.
Mr. McClenahan died in a local hospital (Dee) following a four-weeks' illness of leukemia.
He had helped design many prominent buildings of the inter-mountain territory including the Ogden-Weber municipal building now under construction, the million dollar Ogden high school building, Ben Lemond hotel and many others. He was a member of the architectural firm of Hodgson and McClenahan.
Born Jan. 15, 1891 in Scottsbluff, Neb., to Andrew J. and Lucy B. Fink McClenahan, he took his early schooling in Gering and Grand Island, Neb. schools, graduating from Salt Lake City high school in 1908.
He was employed by Leslie S. Hodgson in 1912, leaving for military service during the World war and returning after his discharge in 1919 to become a partner in the firm. His army service was spent at Camp Mills and Camp Fremont.
He was first married to Norma E. Emery on Dec 20, 1917 in Salt Lake City. She died on Dec 5, 1936 and on Jan 30, 1939, he married Elsie Anderson in Farmington. His widow survives him as do the following sons and daughters: Donald L., Richard M., John E., Lois, Dorothy and Lucille McClenahan all of Ogden; his parents and a brother, Lloyd W. McClenahan of Salt Lake City.
Active pallbearers will be Eric Bjorklund, Abe Bernstein, A. A. Maycock, Clinton Thees, Paul Hodgson, and C. T. Jones. Friends may call at the family residence 2255 Madison Avenue Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday prior to services. Interment in Mountain View cemetery, where Herman Baker post No. 9, American Legion, will accord military honors. Funeral directed by Lindquist & Sons. Myrl was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Marjorie, in 1926. ###
